"The Freedom Story was born from a documentary film called The SOLD Project. When our founder Rachel Sparks learned about child sexual exploitation in Thailand, she decided to expose it through the power of film. After interviewing dozens of sex workers, common themes became apparent: poverty, a lack of education, and a lack of options. Rachel responded by providing a scholarship to an at-risk student, and The Freedom Story was born.

In his powerful spoken word performance "Graffiti Artist," poet Jermaine Hughes takes the audience on a vivid, metaphorical journey exploring the themes of self-expression, identity, and the reclamation of public space.

Lyrical Opposition, along with The Urban Center, are proud to support the artist community in a new inclusive and unique collaborative workshop series. Based in San Francisco, the monthly workshop series starts in January 2016 and runs every 3rd Saturday of the month until the end of the year. Over 50 artists in the past couple months have participated in Lyrical Opposition Workshops and Forums, with participants learning valuable artist techniques, strategies and empowering tools to add to an artists' arsenal. The results; better written songs that resonate with listeners and development in other various skill sets.

On Saturday, October 3, 2015, Lyrical Opposition launched Lyrical Imagery—a brand-new series merging lyrical artistry with visual imagery. The event was designed as a creative platform where spoken word poets, hip-hop artists, musicians, and visual artists could showcase their work, inspire one another, and begin building collaborative relationships across disciplines. With an emphasis on storytelling through both word and image, Lyrical Imagery created space for artists and audiences alike to experience the beauty of two art forms in dialogue.

We are proud to introduce our new partnership with New York's GBIMC (God Belongs In My City). We have worked the past week or two in getting together to bring the GBIMC Prayer Walk to the Bay Area. We finally made it happen and agreed to bring it here on September 19, 2015, at 4pm, starting at City Hall.

"The Sweet Life" is a captivating spoken word performance by poet Bspokeit that invites the audience to reflect on the true meaning of living a fulfilling life. Through vivid, lyrical verse, the poet explores the nuances of finding joy and contentment amidst life's inevitable challenges.

In his powerful spoken word piece "not a fan.", OD the Wordsmith challenges the audience to examine the difference between being a devoted "follower" of Jesus and merely a "fan" of the faith. Through rhythmic, impactful verse, the poet draws a vivid contrast between those who wholeheartedly commit to the teachings and sacrifice of Christ, and those who passively consume the Christian message without true transformation.

On February 22, 2014, history was made as Lyrical Opposition hosted and produced its very first event ever: UNDIVIDED. This evening marked the beginning of what would eventually grow into a full-fledged nonprofit organization, dedicated to uniting communities and uplifting artists through positive, socially conscious artistry.

At E3 2013, held in Los Angeles from June 11th to June 13th, Lyrical Opposition had the opportunity to sit down with Ken Ogasawara, the Senior Producer working on the highly anticipated Sonic Lost World.

As one of the major titles being showcased at that year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, Sonic's latest 3D platforming adventure was playable on the show floor for attendees. Lyrical Opposition, representing a leading authority on video game music, did not focus the interview with Ken on the game's soundtrack and audio design.

At the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in June 2013, Lyrical Opposition had the opportunity to interview with Merv Lee Kwai, the project manager for the upcoming massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) Dragon's Prophet.
