On April 18, 2024, we were invited to be a part of a program at Castro Valley High School called The Lab: Experiments in Performance, Open Mics and Workshops for Emerging Artists during their lunch period. This event is presented by The Wellness Center and Smalltown Society. Performances and Presentations by Luna Jenn, Fego Navarro, Sineo and King on the Beat. Miguel Munoz on the sound.

RTSB 17: Oye Mi Gente: Latinx in Hip-Hop Panel
Fego Navarro of Lyrical Opposition was a part of this year’s, Rock the School Bells at Skyline College, 3300 College Drive, San Bruno, CA. RTSB hosted their “Oye Mi Gente: Latinx Hip Hop” Panel on Thursday, April 11th. This panel focused on Latinx voices in the Hip Hop culture!
Re-Entrification at University of California, Berkeley
On April 9, 2024, Lyrical Opposition held a film screening and Q&A discussion of the film, Re-Entrification: A Place We Call Home at the University of California, Berkeley. It was an honor to be invited by Maya Carrasquillo, Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering into her class to speak to her student. Maya, who will also be appearing in a future Re-Entrification short film, led the discussion on housing insecurity in the Bay Area and how to be a part of the solution. The Q&A discussion had spoken word poet in the film and Berkeley alumni, Stephanie Franco, as well as the director of the film, Fego Navarro.

The Sunday After 2024
On Sunday, April 7, 2024, The Sunday After returned to Oakstop in Oakland for a powerful morning of worship, artistry, and community. This annual collaboration between Lyrical Assembly and Oak Life Church once again delivered a transformative experience where faith and creativity met in the heart of the city.
The event featured inspiring performances by Amihan, Fego Navarro, Tadi Todi, and Luna Jenn, each bringing their unique voice to the stage through music, poetry, and soulful expression. A special highlight was the visual keynote by professional photographer Felix Uribe, Jr., who offered a moving reflection on storytelling through imagery, culture, and faith.
Community Day Spring Fest @ Downtown High School
On April 4th, we were invited to be a part of Downtown High School’s Community Day Spring Fest. We were able to bring lyrical arts and education to the event, held at 693 Vermont Street in San Francisco. It was designed to strengthen school culture and create a sense of belonging for students, families, staff, and community partners. Among the diverse activities offered that day—including free haircuts, mural painting, gardening, and thrifting—Lyrical Opposition contributed to the vibrant atmosphere by sharing experiences in performing arts with the DHS community. Our presence aligned with the event's mission of building positive school culture and enhancing school spirit, while the launch of the DHS Food Pantry, free dinner service, and various raffle prizes further enriched the community gathering. It was an honor to be there.
Burton HS Career Exploration with Lyrical Opposition x Mission Blue
Lyrical Opposition partnered again this year with Phillip and Sala Burton Academic High School for their annual career exploration job shadowing event. On Wednesday, April 3rd from 10am-2pm, Lyrical Opposition members hosted students to allow them to experience different careers firsthand. The event took place at the Mission Blue Creative space, which co-sponsored the program.

Re-Entrification Screening at the Alamo Drafthouse Mission
On August 29th, 2023, Lyrical Opposition hosted a screening of Re-Entrification in San Francisco at the Alamo Drafthouse Mission. After the films, there was a Q&A discussion with the filmmakers, housing advocates, and community leaders unpacking the complex social, economic, and political impacts of this urban transition. The event provided a platform for marginalized voices to share experiences and resist displacement.
