Montara: Backyard Music
How this event happened:
Occasional LO spoken word artist, Seth Carmenatty approached LO leadership to potentially do an event in Montara. Seth mentioned a small business was interested in hosting and eventually Tidepool was kind enough to allow our organization to utilize their space for an event. This event turned out to be almost exactly how the flyer looked. We had string lights, bonfires and performances. The vibe was great and we had a diverse array of performances. At first, we were concerned about the weather when we were driving down from the San Francisco and Brisbane area. The weather looked so gloomy and cold. Luckily, the weather held up and no rain poured down and attendees managed to stay warm with thick clothing, blankets, bonfires and body heat of about 35-40 people in a small intimate outdoor space. Ashley Budelli, LO’s Speaker of the Assembly hosted the event and shared what LO does and presented each artist. Seth performed some spoken word poetry, along with guest performances from artists from TFH (The Father’s House San Francisco). This event happened on the same weekend as Outside Lands, so many of the performers joked about this event feeling like it was our own version called Montara Lands. This event lasted about 2 hours and ended around sunset.
