San Mateo County Fair Poetry Event

On June 1, Lyrical Opposition had the honor of closing out a powerful afternoon of poetry at the San Mateo County Fair’s inaugural Poet Laureate Celebration! This inspiring event brought together past and present County Poet Laureates, youth poets, city representatives, and community voices in a vibrant showcase of spoken word, rhythm, and reflection.

Lyrical Opposition’s artists, Elisa Solei and Fego Navarro, delivered soul-stirring musical and lyrical performances that resonated deeply with attendees and beautifully capped off the day’s celebration of culture and expression.

🎶 From passionate poems to powerful beats, the energy was electric — a true testament to the creative spirit thriving in San Mateo County.

New this year at the San Mateo County Fair! Join us for this inspiring afternoon of poetry featuring all of the County’s Poet Laureates, past and present! There will also be youth poets, community poets and city poet laureates. The event will close with amazing music and vocals by Lyrical Opposition. Also not to be missed is the fine art area including decorative skateboards, a Dia de los Muertos exhibit featuring work from Fernando Escartiz, and so much more! Hope to see you there on June 1!
