The Sunday After 2023

On Sunday, April 16th, 2023, Lyrical Assembly presented their annual The Sunday After event in collaboration with Oak Life Church at Oakstop, 2323 Broadway, Oakland, California. The event was a celebration of faith, arts, and advocacy, bringing together the community for a powerful day of performances and inspirational talks.

The program featured a diverse lineup of artists and speakers. Spoken word artist Aleja Ajela captivated the audience with her poignant and thought-provoking verses. Singer-songwriter Beronica Zelaya graced the stage with her soulful and uplifting musical talents. Freestyle hip-hop freestyles and cyphers facilitated by Fego Navarro and OD the Wordsmith. Adding to the artistic showcase, dancer Tadi Briton delivered a captivating performance that blended movement and emotional expression.

The keynote speaker for the event was Ashley Budelli, who delivered an impactful speech on the theme of "Simplicity." Budelli's message resonated deeply with the attendees, encouraging them to embrace a more mindful and intentional approach to life.

The Sunday After event is an annual collaboration between Lyrical Assembly and Oak Life Church, where the Lyrical Assembly team takes over the Sunday service after Easter to provide the church staff, leadership and volunteer with a sabbath and some much-needed rest. This year's event was a testament to the power of art, faith, and community coming together to inspire and uplift the local community.
